Below is the current state of events when it comes to my workspace. Sad, I know. I don’t think I’ve ever shared this space because I never really knew where I was going with it. I kept waiting to have some epiphany about how to finish it. I have a thing for black walls and thought it would work really nicely in this small space (formerly a closet). I also had a lot of black paint left over. Then I got this idea of the furniture disappearing into the wall. I just.. I don’t know guys.
Overall, it’s not a horrible idea. When (!) the space is nice and tidy I can see parts that I really like. However, I find myself never wanting to sit or spend too much time here.
I’ve finally given up hope and realized the space isn’t very inspiring and it’s affecting me a lot more than I was willing to admit. The lighting sucks, mostly because there’s barely any. It was a closet after all. The colors (or lack thereof) could suck the energy out of anything.
As I venture into some special projects that I can’t wait to share here, I’ve decided I need to invest in this space. Hopefully, turn it into a workspace you have to peel me away from. I’ve started pinning inspiration to try and drill down what I’m looking for before I start working. Here’s some of what I’ve fallen in love with so far:

Verdict: Light, bright and colorful. My main focus will be lighting and color. I’ve given myself a budget of $275 (not including any tools I may need to purchase) to transform this alcove into get-‘er-done central.
Plan: The bookshelf and desk will both be broken down and find a home in the garage. I’ll be reusing an old hollow-core door I once used as a desktop as a desktop once again. That should give me enough room to have my computer and sewing machine within reach at all times. The books currently on the bookshelf will find a new home all over the house. I’ll take advantage of wall space and use some shelving and maybe other creative options for storage.
Deadline: I’ve been hesitant to give myself a deadline because I don’t want to hurry anything. But I’ve discovered that I work better under pressure. So I’m giving myself until December 2nd to have this completely in the bag.
Cross your fingers for me!
