Chocolates and Yellows and Golds, oh my!

I love how the paint turned out on the armoire. Its shades lighter than the gray on the wall, so it goes but doesn’t blend in. The hardware, however, has worn out its welcome. I tried to live with it, but its overall just too dark for me. I think the scale is off too, not sure what direction I’ll go in. I’ve entertained the idea of using these pretty melon pulls from Anthropologie for the doors, but then what would I do with the drawers? Stay tuned!

The milk/juice jugs are from Goodwill too, so pretty. Anything white ceramic, I must have. Its all over the house I tell ya! The spittoon was a yard sale find, $3 I believe. Its dented and pretty distressed but I just think that adds to the beauty.

The giant gold frame (about 3ft squared) is from Ross. Its not one of those “insert your picture here” frames, but more of a “here’s art, just hang it up and you’re done” type deal. Problem was I didn’t love the art (is hate too strong a word to use here?), so I very carefully pried every single itty bitty nail from the back and removed the artwork. Replaced it with a poster sized print of an old photograph of my mom and one of her sisters back in the 70s. My mom had just arrived in the States for the first time, she has the most amazing smile on her face. Next to that are two smaller white frames from Target, the top one holds a print from The Love Shop that reads “Chin up buttercup. Everything’s gonna be OK.” The lower frame has yet to meet its art, still waiting for it in the mail :( Both (eventually) will have overall yellow tones to tie in the headboard I made her way back when, and a few throw pillows.

All in all I’m very happy with the progress. Now all I need is a comfy chair and for mom to be well enough to come back home. All in time, I’m sure.

p.s. You’ll probably notice a good amount of changes around here. Including changes to the layout and content. Stay tuned!
