failure.

Guys, I couldn’t do it. Scratch that, I didn’t do it. I didn’t make my own deadline. As I walked in the door last night after a day of Christmas overload (we decorated Yong’s mom’s house), the disappointment fully set in as I realized what day it was.

My plans had included using this weekend to the fullest, however time and commitments just didn’t allow that to happen. No excuses, this project and my deadline were both totally feasible. Oh well.

Here’s where we are so far:

  • Painting
  • Table cut to size
  • Lighting installed
  • Shelving installed
  • Table wrapped in vinyl
  • Legs & braces attached
  • Electronics arranged (printer & Cameo need new homes)
  • Supplies organized
  • Under storage added
  • Decor added

The lighting is actually not 100% completed. I decided to use a track lighting system (three heads = multiple light sources) to avoid any harsh shadows that may have occurred with the shelving I was planning. However, there was no lighting source there to begin with so I had to convert the track from a hardwired install to a live end connector/plug-in. Everything was going great up until the light never turned on. Womp, womp.

The shelving? That’s another beast. The two closest Ikeas in our area were completely out of stock with the shelves and brackets I wanted. The closest option is a 45 minute drive away (without traffic). As two people who commute an hour each way, that just wasn’t an option during the week.. during rush hour no less. So that was supposed to happen this weekend, alas time and commitments simply did not allow it. I stopped by Home Depot to see if there were any other options within my budget but nothing looked promising. It was either awesome but too pricey or totally cheap and butt ugly.

I haven’t even begun to shop for decor. I’d basically blow what’s left of the budget on that before I even realize it. I’m completely self-aware on that front. So what are those geometric diamond looking things on my desk? That’s a surprise I can, hopefully, share with you later this week!
