Mom’s Bedroom

Mom’s bedroom has been (and still is) a really fun project for me. Its the one room (with a door) that I have 100% control over. I wanted it to flow easily with the rest of the house, at least from the outside in, but that was the only real restriction. I went slightly darker with the paint on the walls. I mean very slight, only about 15% darker. Paint went on three walls and the third wall (the one you can’t see from outside) got a little bold. Used a wallpaper from Graham & Brown, same place I bought the wallpaper for the bar.

I love it. This was my first time working with wallpaper (I did this before the bar) and I was more than scared I’d mess it up. It was definitely an learning experience, but I’m happy I did it. I’m a very impatient person so getting this room to evolve slowly is kind of killing me. The good thing is I have no choice. Not being impulsive helps me get a little creative though. I’ve had a couple Lack side tables from before the move that I was 90% sure I was gonna get rid of. Last night I removed the legs off of one and used the table top as a base, stuck an old shrimp crate I found in our yard inside to act as a drawer annnnd I’m kinda digging it.

Ehn, we’ll see, lol. I tend to change my mind often. There’s, also,  a space between one of the drawers and the closet that just needs to be filled because somehow clutter just seems to find its way over. My plan is to add a floor length mirror and ottoman since mom’s room houses all my clothing and acts as a dressing room for myself as well.

To-Buy List: 1. MONGSTAD Mirror $99, Ikea; 2. Ottoman $179, West Elm; 3. LUDDE Sheepskin Rug$39, Ikea;4. Glass Table Lamp $69, JC Penney; 5. Wingback Chair, West Elm; 6. Jewelry Stand $18, Urban Outfitters; 7. Luxury Bedding $89, JC Penney; 8. 26″ LCD HDTV $450, Target; 9. Assorted art & picture frames

  1. It’s weird how the wallpaper looks chocolate and gold then black and silver in another shot, lol. I like how this is coming together.

  2. Its actually chocolate and silver, lol. But yea, a part of me wishes it was done. Another part is really enjoying the process, as slow as it is.

  3. I really like how it’s coming along. <3 The ikea hack is cool too, although I think I would flip the "base" so that it's colored side up.
