i think a lot of men get pre-move in jitters before the big day. to me, those jitters have always been the fear that a) my freedom to go out and do “guy” (stupid) shit will be taken away, and b) my living area will be invaded by all sorts of femininity. because of that, we’ve both agreed on the veto rule, which should be self explanatory. also, since the lady works from home, it’s essential for us to have separate bedrooms.

not that we’ll be sleeping apart regularly, but i think it’s important to have a space in the house you can claim as your own, with its own personality. for me, that’d be my bedroom since i rarely venture out to the living room in any of the places i’ve used to live at.

  1. excellent point on the separate space. i agree with having separate bedrooms or common areas that are exclusive to each party. it was difficult for a while to find other people that shared the same view. so i appreciate this post.

do either of you have tips on how to keep that feeling of independence and privacy going in a one-bedroom space until more space becomes available?

  2. horrible, lol. never found the appeal of bean bag chairs. that price tag is just retarded though. we can get a super nice upholstered chair for that price. smh.

@ronni – honestly, i’d say keep the room fairly neutral to both sides as far as personality goes. that way it doesn’t feel like it “belongs” to one person more than the other then just choose another space in the household to use as their own.

i got no clue. sharing a bathroom is hard enough for me. like p said, it’s all about finding a balance. ya’ll cant go into living together on some “my way or the highway” type shit. that’s inevitably going to lead to other problems down the line.

  4. Honestly I have a lov sac “Sactional” and its dope as hell, and my son had the kid sac and he loves it. I want the gamer sac for when im busting Yongs ass in COD4..but living together is cool as far as decorating goes I told Kim let me do the electronics and everything is up to you. as long as the colors are neutral its all good. The bathroom is the hardest thing though so maybe trying to find a 2 bathroom spot would be best. Because all guys have is deodorant and brush and maybe some hair lotion. Girls have soo much more stuff..That is the hardest part I would say.

the beer pong table folds up so it’ll probably go in my closet till the boys (or p’s girls) head over, then i’ll prolly put it out on the patio. i’m considering a kegerator, since my man’s chris said beer in a keg can last for months if need be. definitely another fridge for beer/alcohol. the wetbar might take a bit of work.

yeah i got a papasan chair now, but i’d love a beanbag. i’m not sweating it though, if anything i was considering getting one of those “egg” chairs to put in my room since the existing chair i got is falling apart. the bathroom is huge, so there’s space for cabinets to put all of p’s stuff in, so i’m not sweating it. long as there’s an ipod dock in there i’m happy.
