I was lucky enough to grow up in a Mexican household. I say lucky because, well, who doesn’t love Mexican food? I’m sure most people have had an agua fresca while dining in their favorite Mexican restaurant. I’d bet it was probably Horchata. Next time you visit, try the Jamaica instead.
Jamaica is Hibiscus Iced Tea, but it’s so much more than that! It’s tart, fruity, sweet and so amazingly refreshing. Most definitely a childhood favorite!
Hibiscus Iced Tea Recipe
2 quarts of water (8 cups)
8 tablespoons of Dried Hibiscus Flowers
1/3 cup of sugar (I used Stevia)
Steep hibiscus flowers in hot water for 5-15 minutes depending on how strong you’d like the flavor. Remove flowers and allow the tea to cool for about an hour. To drink immediately, pour over ice. Or store in your fridge to enjoy later! :)
