I have this tendency to get overly excited about the next thing. Usually forgetting to embrace the potential in the current. Maybe you can relate but I can get used to a situation or environment relatively quickly and then it becomes old hat. I start to imagine what could be if I had the next thing instead. It’s a quality that comes in handy when you need to innovate, which I sometimes do for work. However, I resent it for what it makes me do in my personal life. Or better yet, what it makes me not do.
When we first toured this house one of the first things I noticed were the 9 boob lights placed across five rooms and a hallway. “I can’t wait to replace those,” I thought to myself. Lighting is something that I can get easily excited about. Even considered designing fixtures myself (maybe one day). But then we bought the house and somehow, 4 years later I had moved on. Not a single boob light replaced and fantasizing about the next house. Reminding myself that this was always intended to be a “starter home” (barf).
Then the world throws you a curveball and you find yourself spending more time staring at those boob lights (and rusted faux brass/wood ceiling fans) than you ever have. Motivation.
So here’s some progress for you. Husbae and I were a little excited to make said progress and missed getting a good before shot of the ceiling fan over the dining room table. So here’s the best I can do for ya. Luckily, even the blur couldn’t hide the ugly.
I’ve been hoarding the Nehalem 6″ Fitter pendant from Rejuvenation for about two years. The electrical in this house doesn’t always cooperate very well and at one point we planned on buying replacement fixtures for every light and hiring an electrician to knock it all out in a few hours. But you know… the next house.
I’m aware that for the amount of shit I just talked about the light of boobs this post does not contain a single boob light replacement.
Just sit tight, though.
